Baseball practice is cancelled today because of the rain. This means only one thing: Watch mlb.tv
Brad Penny: Penny pulled of the old 31 move. The fake to third throw to first to try to catch the runner. People say it never works and pitchers get booed at pro games when they try it. This is dumb. If the move works, it completely changes the complexion of the inning. In Penny’s case, instead of runners on first and third with one out, there’s a runner on third with two outs. Penny got out of the inning after getting Milton Bradley out. The 31 move helped to preserve the score. So, Don’t boo the 31 move. Its worth the 5 seconds when it works. Plus, Penny looks dumb with a beard.
Michael Pineda is really big. I knew he threw hard but didn’t realize how large he stood on the mound. He’s 6’7, 255. That’s what I look for in a power forward…er… starting pitcher.
Jeremy Hellickson is a professional pitcher. He’s got a great mix of pitches. Throws them all for strikes. He runs his fastball up to 95 and floats a curve in at 71.
I hate the Detroit Tigers announcers. They are not very smart and are too fake. I think I’m done watching this game because I can’t stand the announcers.
Jose Molina back picked Ian Kinsler at second base after a leadoff double. A Molina is a Molina until they retire. He may be 35 years old and played in only 50ish games the past few years but, Jose can throw.
Ben Zobrist had 8 RBI. That will make the critics hush up for a little while. It’ll also inflate his numbers all year. It’s days like these that earn you the millions.
