The All Star selections were announced today and there were a couple of surprises. The first one that jumped off the page was the inclusion of Ryan Vogelsong on the NL roster by his own manager. The second surprise was that Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen was left off the team. How is that possible? How could he be anymore deserving? Carlos Beltran of the Mets was picked over him despite the fact that Andrew has more steals, a higher AVG, OBP, and SLG. Not to mention the fact that he his carrying his team into contention and relevance in the NL after nearly 2 decades of futility. I hereby start the Off The Bench campaign to get Andrew McCutchen elected to the AS game as the “last man in” or whatever it is. I promise it will be much more successful than Sean’s attempt to get us in the MLB Fan Cave.
