Gio Gonzalez just got traded from the A’s to the Nationals for 4 decent prospects. I couldn’t be more thrilled. The Nationals are now legit contenders with Stephen Strasburg, Jordan Zimmerman, and Gio in the rotation. You can win with that. For sure.
Nats are for real everybody, watch out. As I said in a previous post, the Nationals are one centerfielder away from having a full starting nine of guys that you have to like. No fills ins, no random free agents, no aging veterans. That’s something no other team in baseball can say.
One final thought, with the Phillies, Braves, vastly improved Marlins, Nationals, at what point to we start thinking about the NL East as baseball’s toughest division.
Bold Prediction: The Washington Nationals will be the NL’s first “second wild card” team.
