Arizona Fall League Daily Notes (Part 4)

DAY 9 (September 27th)
Luis Garcia of the Washington Nationals is one of the top prospects in the Arizona Fall League and he had a great night going 3 for 4 with a double and a stolen base for Surprise. Trey Harris an Atlanta Braves prospect also had a solid night showing off good power going 2 for 3 with a double and a homerun. Seth Beer a player that recently became an Arizona Diamondback as part of the deal that sent Zack Greinke to the Houston Astros had a good night going 2 for 4 with a double and a homerun while playing for Salt River. Cody Ponce a right handed pitching prospect with the Pittsburgh Pirates had the top pitching performance of the night recording a quality start going 5 innings for Peoria, allowing 2 earned runs, and striking out 5.
DAY 10 (September 28th)
Royce Lewis continues to impress as he hit his third homerun and stole his second base since starting to play in the Arizona Fall League. Jose Garcia a Cincinnati Reds shortstop had the best performance of the night going 2 for 4 with a double and a homerun, with 2 stolen bases for Glendale. Jarren Duran a Boston Red Sox prospect had a nice game going 2 for 4 with a homerun and a stolen base. Forrest Whitley a right handed pitching prospect for the Astros had another good outing. This time out he went 4.2 innings, allowing one earned run while striking out 8 batters with no walks allowed. David Peterson a left handed pitching prospect with the New York Mets pitched well throwing 3.1 innings pitched of shutout baseball while striking out 4 batters for Scottsdale.
DAY 11 (September 29th)
Scottsdale Catcher Joey Bart is one of the top prospects in the Arizona Fall League, was the player of the night as he went 2 for 4 hitting a grand slam in the bottom of the 3rd inning off of Luke Heimlich. Joey Bart has had some big moments with Scottsdale as he also homered twice on the opening night of the Arizona Fall League. He is a player that continues to impress and is showing more and more that he is a player that could be up with San Francisco sometime next year. Brandon Wagner a Yankees first base prospect and player for Surprise was named the Arizona Fall League player of the week as he hit his second, that’s right second, grand slam of the week his first was on September 24th against Peoria and had one of the best games of the night going 3 for 4 with a grand slam once more against Peoria. Wagner leads the Arizona Fall League in RBI’s with 15. Jo Adell an outfield prospect with the Angel’s is the highest ranked prospect in the Arizona Fall League and he had a nice game going 3 for 5 with a double and a stolen base for Mesa. Nick Neidert a right handed pitcher with the Miami Marlins had the pitching performance of the night going 5 innings allowing only 1 earned run while striking out 3 batters.
