The Mets released lefty Oliver Perez this morning. Mets fans everywhere can breath a sigh of relief. Its important to know that with the release of Luis Castilla and now Perez the Mets are accountable for over 18 million in 2011 for players who will not play a regular season game. Keep in mind that 18 million represents over half of the Tampa Bay Rays entire payroll for 2011 which is set at around 35 million. However, the Mets are on the right track. Cut loses and move on. The Minaya years are in the rear view.
